FAQs

What is this site about, exactly?

Think of it as an existential pit stop with structure.

I explore identity, midlife transitions, life questions, and the slow work of reinvention, all through the lens of anthropology, visual storytelling, and strategy. It’s personal, yes, but also professional: part reflective essays, part portfolio, part proof-of-life. Occasionally, there are spreadsheets!

Are you available for speaking or interviews?

Yes, selectively. Reach out via email: anandahernandez@gmail.com, and tell me a bit about your event or idea.

What does “human by choice” mean?

It’s about deciding to stay present, stay curious, and stay soft in a world that rewards the opposite. Also, it sounds cooler than “recovering academic.”

Do you do freelance work or consulting?

Yes, I’m open to the idea, especially if it involves research, writing, strategy, storytelling, or helping people make meaning out of chaos. If you're looking for a data analyst with a soul or a storyteller with a spreadsheet, I'm listening.

Can I share your work/quote you/use your brain for a project?

Sharing is lovely. Quoting is fine with attribution. Using my brain? That’s negotiable, and by contract, see the about page if you are interested.

What’s your background?

I’m trained as an anthropologist and have worked across research, strategy, digital media, and creative storytelling. You can find more in my CVs.

Can I support your work?

Sharing my writing or recommending it to someone who might need it is already a gift. If you'd like to support financially, you can subscribe to the newsletter or get in touch.

Do you have a newsletter?

Yes, it's like this site, but more intimate. You can subscribe to get essays, notes, and dispatches from the in-between directly to your inbox.
